What is the difference between Crystal agar ball making machine and popping boba production line
In terms of operating principles and overall production line architecture, there is little difference between Crystal agar ball making machine and popping boba production line equipment. Both utilize a fully automated casting and molding process, and their primary principle relies on the property of colloids—such as sodium alginate—to instantly gel and form a film upon contact with calcium ions, thereby encapsulating a liquid core, such as fruit juice.
However, due to subtle differences between “agar jelly balls” and “bursting pearls” in terms of product positioning, texture requirements, and application scenarios, the equipment varies in actual configuration, parameter adjustments, and process details:
1. Differences in Product Positioning and Process Requirements

Agar Jelly Balls: Greater emphasis is placed on the product’s chewy texture, heat resistance, and acid stability. High-quality agar crystal balls must remain firm and retain their color for 2 hours when immersed in hot beverages at 80°C or in acidic solutions with a pH ≤ 3.5, and their diameter deviation must be controlled within a very narrow range (e.g., ±0.3 mm). Therefore, the equipment requires greater precision in temperature control of the gel curing tank and flow rate adjustment of the rinsing channel
to ensure the outer membrane’s toughness and solid content meet specifications.
Popping Boba: The key features are the sensation of juice bursting upon contact and a strong sensory impact. Its outer membrane is typically extremely thin (approximately 0.1–0.3 mm). During the casting and molding process, the equipment must precisely control the nozzle dispensing volume, the rotational speed of the cutting head, and the thickness of the gel layer to ensure the popping boba’s ease of rupture.
2. Flexibility in Production Line Configuration and Parameter Adjustment
Molding System: For both agar crystals and popping boba, the molding machine injects liquid ingredients into a setting solution through a nozzle. However, to accommodate different products, the equipment must offer a high degree of flexibility. For example, by adjusting the nozzle size, molding speed, and cutting frequency, the size (ranging from 1.5 mm to 12 mm) and shape (spherical or ellipsoidal
) .
Material Dispensing System: Producing agar jelly balls and popping beads requires the preparation of different liquids. In addition to the core fruit juice solution (inner core) and sodium alginate solution (outer membrane), the equipment must be equipped with appropriate temperature-control and mixing systems to accommodate viscosity changes in various formulations (such as blended gums, calcium chloride, guar gum, etc.) and ensure smooth casting.
3. Key Considerations for Post-Processing and Packaging
Curing and Cleaning: The production line typically includes multi-tiered flushing troughs, vibrating screens, or optical sorters to rinse off excess gel from the surface and remove damaged or irregular particles, ensuring consistent size and quality of the finished product.
Sterilization and Packaging: Depending on the storage requirements for agar beads or popping bobas (room temperature or refrigerated), the production line is equipped with ultrasonic/UV sterilization, steam sterilization, or ultra-high-temperature (UHT) flash sterilization equipment, as well as vacuum packaging, canning, or aseptic big-bag filling systems.
